Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 17, 2026
The Hillsdale High School Foundation (“the Foundation,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website at hillsdalehsfoundation.org. We are a nonprofit organization supporting Hillsdale High School in San Mateo, California.
We believe you should know what happens to your information when you visit our site. This policy explains what we collect, why, who else is involved, and what choices you have. We have written it to describe what our website actually does, rather than to cover every possibility.
The Short Version
We do not ask you for personal information on this website. We have no contact forms, no accounts to create, and no way to comment. Donations are processed on other companies’ platforms, not here.
Our merchandise store is run by an outside vendor. If you buy something there, Foundation administrators can see your order details, including your name, email, and shipping address. We use that only to keep track of the store and answer questions about orders — never to add you to a mailing list.
Otherwise, what we collect is standard website analytics: which pages are visited, from roughly where, on what kind of device. We do not sell your information to anyone.
Information You Provide to Us
Our website contains no forms that submit information to us. If you want to reach us, the site lists our email and mailing address. When you contact us, we receive whatever you choose to include — typically your name, email address, and your message — and use it only to respond.
If you apply to join our Board of Directors, the “Ways to Join Us” page links to an application form hosted by Google Forms. That form is operated by Google on our behalf; what you enter is submitted to Google and made available to us. We use it solely to evaluate board candidates.
Information Collected Automatically
When you visit, the following is collected automatically by the third-party services we use:
- Your IP address, which indicates your approximate location
- Your browser type, operating system, device type, and screen size
- The pages you view, how long you spend on them, and in what order
- The website or search that referred you, if any
- The date and time of your visit
This is collected through cookies and similar technologies. We use it in aggregate to understand how our site is used. We do not attempt to identify individual visitors from it.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. Our website and the third-party services embedded in it use cookies to recognize returning visitors and compile analytics.
We do not currently display a cookie consent banner, and cookies are set when you visit. You can control cookies through your browser settings — every major browser lets you block cookies, delete existing ones, or be notified before one is set. Blocking cookies may affect how parts of the site function.
You can opt out of Google Analytics specifically by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on from Google.
Third-Party Services We Use
Each service below is run by a separate company under its own privacy policy and may collect information about your visit independently of us.
Analytics
- Google Analytics 4 — enabled through our Rank Math SEO plugin. Collects the automatic information described above and assigns a persistent identifier to your browser so returning visits can be recognized.
- Jetpack Stats — provided by Automattic, Inc. Records pageviews and referral sources.
Fonts and infrastructure
- Google Fonts — typefaces load from Google’s servers, so your IP address is transmitted to Google when a page loads.
- Pressable — our web host. Its servers generate access logs recording IP addresses and requested pages as a normal function of serving the site.
Donations and fundraising
- DoubleTheDonation — our Employer Matching Gifts page uses a tool that helps you find whether your employer matches charitable contributions. Searching for your employer sends that query to DoubleTheDonation.
Donations are processed by third-party platforms, not on this website. When you donate, you leave our site and your payment information is handled entirely by that platform. We never see or store your payment card details.
Embedded video
Some pages include YouTube or Vimeo players, which set their own cookies and collect viewing information under their providers’ policies.
Our Merchandise Store
Our Hillsdale High School Store page displays a storefront operated by Print Your Cause, which runs on the Fulfill Engine platform (the same company under two brand names). The store is embedded in our page, but it is their service.
What they do: Print Your Cause collects your order, name, email, shipping address, and payment information, processes the payment, and fulfills and ships your order. Your purchase is governed by their terms and privacy policy. We never see or store your payment card details. Because the store is embedded, they may set cookies and collect information when the page loads, even if you do not buy anything.
What we can see: Foundation administrators have access to a reporting portal showing order information, including purchaser names, email addresses, and shipping addresses. We use this only to monitor store activity, reconcile funds, and help resolve order questions.
Our commitments regarding this information:
- Access is limited to Foundation Board administrators.
- Any exported reports containing personal information are stored only on the Foundation’s Board Drive and are not copied elsewhere.
- Purchaser information is not added to our donor database, mailing lists, or newsletters, and is not used for solicitation of any kind.
- Only aggregate sales and revenue totals — never individual purchaser information — are shared with school groups or other Hillsdale-affiliated organizations.
How We Use Information
- Operate, maintain, and improve our website
- Understand which content is useful to our community
- Respond to messages and inquiries you send us
- Evaluate applications to serve on our Board of Directors
- Administer our merchandise store as described above
- Comply with legal obligations
How We Share Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Information may be shared only:
- With service providers — the third-party services listed above receive information as a necessary part of providing their service.
- For legal requirements — if required by law, subpoena, or court order, or where necessary to protect our rights or the safety of others.
- With your consent — in any other case, only if you have asked or agreed.
Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” setting signaling a preference not to be tracked across websites. There is currently no industry or legal consensus on how websites should respond, and our website does not respond to these signals. The third-party services described here may track your activity across websites over time, and we do not control whether they honor Do Not Track signals.
Your Choices and Rights
California law gives residents certain rights regarding personal information. Although the Foundation is a nonprofit and is generally not subject to the California Consumer Privacy Act, we are glad to honor these requests from anyone, regardless of where you live:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate
- Ask us to delete information we hold about you
- Ask us to stop contacting you
To make a request, email execdirector@hillsdalehsfoundation.org or write to the address below. We will respond as promptly as we reasonably can.
For information held by the third-party services described above — including order information held by Print Your Cause — you may also need to contact those companies directly, as we cannot delete data in their systems on your behalf.
Children’s Privacy
This website is directed to adults — parents, alumni, donors, and community supporters of Hillsdale High School. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Our Board of Directors application is for adult applicants only. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Links to Other Websites
Our site links to other websites, including Hillsdale High School, the San Mateo Union High School District, donation platforms, and news coverage. We are not responsible for their privacy practices or content. Once you follow a link away from hillsdalehsfoundation.org, this policy no longer applies.
Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect our website, including hosting on a managed, secured platform and keeping software current. However, no method of transmitting or storing information online is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Visitors Outside the United States
This website is operated in the United States and intended for a United States audience. If you access it from elsewhere, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your country.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or in the law. When we do, we will revise the effective date above. Material changes will be noted conspicuously on this page.
